Mr Magpie is many things: a talking bird, a time-travelling mystic, and the commander-in-chief of a new Sheffield band, whose members include local musicians Matt Alexander and L.A. Foster (Curlicues).

Mr Magpie’s songs find a wealth of inspiration in local landscapes and nature, and our often-strange relationships with them. Featuring jangling guitars and harmonies, the music taps into the vein of uniquely British, pastoral pop defined by artists such as XTC, The Kinks and Robyn Hitchcock.

'The Magical World of Mr Magpie' is the first full length album from the collaboration, its songs partly inspired by a DIY bike tour of Northern England in Spring 2019.
